Lake, ocean and outdoor paradise. Hotel Borgarvirki is a cozy country hotel in northwest Iceland. located between 3 big lakes called Lake Vesturóp, Lake Hóp and Sigríðarstaðavatn. We offer quality accommodations combined with superior customer services at reasonable prices. At Hotel Borgarviki you can commune with nature, among some of Iceland's most beautiful scenery and pristine conditions while not being that far from the main "ring road" around Iceland. Even better, all around the hotel are opportunities for all sorts of activities such as horseback riding, fishing, walking trails and seal watching just to name a few. We offer many if not most of the things you would only expect to find in the "city hotels" in an unbelieveably scenic atmosphere.The hotel features 15 rooms. 8 rooms feature an en-suite bath and 7 rooms with a wash basin in the rooms and shared facilities close to the room. In spring 2012 we will have 4 new additional rooms, total amount of rooms being 19. The hotel has a restaurant with a la carte menu, open each evening and a well stocked bar for evening socials with friends, family or associates. The hotel is a member of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF). Near the hotel are historic ruins, Borgarvirki, which we use to name our hotel. It is a fort build on a hilltop in the Viking era. The Icelandic Sagas contain details of a battle fought there and a long siege. Also near the hotel is Hvítserkur which is a spectacular sea cliffs, looking like a giant that turned into stone. The hotel is located on the east side of a peninsula called Vatnsnes, which is the main spot for seal watching in Iceland. At all times there are wild seals by or on the shores, that are easy to spot. We offer activities such as angling, hiking and horseback riding tours. The hotel is ideal for individual, groups, conferences and incentive travel. At Borgarvirki you will find very modern conference facilities for up to 100 persons. |
